Elton John (born Reginald Dwight) began to teach himself piano at age seven and eventually became so proficient that he was eventually able to learn new songs just by listening to them once or twice.

He enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music aged just eleven and was there for five years before beginning his career in music. He went on to achieve success in the 1970s with number ones such as "Tiny Dancer", "Rocket Man", "Crocodile Rock".
